This is a USAT Sanctioned event. All results for USAT members will be submitted to USAT for ranking. As a USAT Sanctioned event, electronic devices (MP3, iPod, cell phones, etc.) are NOT ALLOWED on the course AT ANY TIME! Of course, this ban does not include Garmin, Polar, and/or Timex timing devices. If you are not a USAT member, you will be required to purchase a one-day USAT license for $15.
New this year is a Youth Mini Sprint. The Youth division will go first at 0730. Once all youth are out of the pool and on the bike course, we will start the Full Sprint swimmers.
The Swim (Tri only)
The swim takes place at the BEAUTIFUL Oro Valley Aquatic Center, 23 W. Calle Concordia, Oro Valley, AZ. The Youth Mini Sprint swim is 200 meters and the Full Sprint swim is 800 meters. Both divisions will be a serpentine swim. Don't know what a "serpentine swim is?" We recommend you attend our clinic at the Oro Valley Aquatic Center (date TBD). Participants will be placed based on their estimated swim time. IT IS CRITICAL YOU GIVE AN ACCURATE SWIM TIME ESTIMATE! For more information, please see the Participant Information Sheet.
The Bike (Tri and Du)
The Youth Mini Sprint will do ONE LOOP (7.15 miles)
The Full Sprint/HS Divisions (Tri, HS, and Du) will do TWO LOOPS (14.3 miles)
The course will have some very fast downhills. We ask participants to please be responsible with your speed on the downills. The course will be coned off, but there will be traffic on the roads. RIDERS MUST STAY TO THE RIGHT OF THE CONES OR BE IMMEDIATELY DISQUALIFIED. No exceptions.
There are a few rough patches on Calle Concordia just before you get to La Canada. These will be clearly marked with ORANGE spray chalk.
The Run (Tri and Du)
Duathletes will run one loop (1.5 miles in REVERSE) for their first run and two loops (3 miles) for their second run.
Youth Mini Sprint Division - you will run one loop (1.5 miles) before running through the finish line
Triathlete Full Sprint/HS Divisions - you will run two loops (3.0 miles) before running through the finish line
All runs are out the back of the James D. Kreigh Park. There will be 2 aid stations on the course providing water. Be sure to grab your wristband from the Metal Parts water station (just south of the transition area) on your second loop. This is how we confirm at the finish line that you have completed two loops.
Transitions (Tri and Du)
Tranisition will open on RACE DAY at 6:00 a.m.
Transition will close on RACE DAY at 7:00 am. - NO EXCEPTIONS. IF YOU HAVE NOT PICKED UP YOUR PACKET AND RACKED YOUR BIKE BY 7:00 A.M. ON RACE MORNING, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE.
Both transitions (T1 and T2) are in the same area, in the parking lot just east of the Aquatic Center. Volunteers will guide you through this area. DO NOT get on your bike until out of the transition area and at the Mount Line. You MUST dismount at the Dismount Line, which will be clearly marked.
Packet Pick Up
EVERYONE MUST PICK UP THEIR OWN PACKET AND HAVE A PHOTO I.D. -- NO EXCEPTIONS.
HIGH SCHOOL PARTICIPANTS MUST SHOW PROOF OF CURRENT ENROLLMENT - - NO EXCEPTIONS.
ALL USAT MEMBERS MUST SHOW THEIR MEMBERSHIP CARD OR BE PREPARED TO PAY FOR A 1-DAY LICENSE.
Packet Pickup will be held on three days:
1) Wednesday, October 4 at TriSports (4495 S. Coach, Tuson, AZ 85714) from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
2) Thursday, October 5 at Tucson Endurance Performance Center (6648 N. Oracle Rd, Tucson, AZ 85704) from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and
3) Friday, October 6 at the Oro Valley Aquatic Center (east parking lot - 23 W. Calle Concordia, Oro Valley, AZ) from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. You can park in the Aquatic Center's west parking lot, CDO'S parking lot (west of the Aquatic Center, or in the back parking lot of Egelston Road, behind the James D. Kreigh Park. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PARK IN THE EAST PARKING LOT WHERE TRANSITION/RACE SET UP WILL BE. Parking MAP.
We STRONGLY urge you to pick up your packet on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. However, if you cannot make it, you can pick up your packet on race morning from 6:00 – 6:45 a.m. Please plan accordingly. WILL NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO PICK UP THEIR PACKET OR TIMING CHIP AFTER THE RACE AS STARTED.
Pre-Race Meeting & Awards
There will be a pre-race course information meeting for the YOUTH DIVISION on Saturday, October 7, at 7:00 a.m. just outside the transition area in the parking lot.

The race will begin at 7:30 a.m. Age group categories are in 5-year increments (except for the youth division, and the full sprint distance division 19 and under) 20-24, 25-29, etc. as high as needed for both women and men. Awards will be presented 3 deep in each age category. Overall awards will be given to the top 3 women and men.
Please be PRESENT to collect your award. Awards will NOT be mailed; however, if you cannot be present for the Awards Ceremony, you award will be taken to Tucson Endurance Performance Center's Store for pick on beginning Monday, October 9, 2017. Please call ahead and confirm your award is there.
Parking & Spectators
Parking on Race Day will be in west parking lot of the Aquatic Center, at CDO High School just west of the Aquatic Center, and behind James D. Kreigh Park. (MAP)
We strongly encourage friends and family to come out and support the participants.
Please remember to have FUN! Many participating in a Sprint Triathlon are beginners; please be prepared to help your fellow racer with any questions he/she may have.
